Hornby trustees set conditions for Sea Breeze liquor endorsement
The Local Trust Committee recommended indoor entertainment, earlier closing times and measures to address disturbances before the licence change is issued.

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee recommended that a food-primary entertainment endorsement for Sea Breeze Lodge be issued only if entertainment takes place inside the restaurant building, liquor service and entertainment end by 12:00 am, and the applicant takes reasonable measures to prevent disturbances. [1]
The committee also recommended that entertainment end preferably at 11:00 pm on days other than Saturday, and that the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch ensure entertainment remains secondary to food service. [1]
Planner Marnie Eggen reported that neighbouring residents had sent comments opposing the application, citing noise, traffic and concern that the operation could act contrary to its primary purpose. [1]
The committee said weddings at Sea Breeze provide valued economic benefits for the community, while also stating that the events need to be managed to maintain the rural character of that part of the island. [1]
The committee voted to forward residents’ submissions to the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch and said the proposed conditions would provide reasonable measures to address concerns. [1]
