Hornby trustees send draft bylaw and plan comments to staff

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee referred its comments on the draft Land Use Bylaw and Official Community Plan to staff for follow-up, after reviewing proposed revisions and issues needing further discussion at its March 15 meeting.[1]
The committee’s supported Land Use Bylaw revisions included adding vacation home rental to a regulation and adding “community housing” and “radio station” to a list of uses.[1]
Items flagged for further discussion included whether to redefine a zone to permit community housing and potentially increase density, whether agritourism accommodation is allowed, and how to address vacation home rental requirements.[1]
For the draft Official Community Plan, trustees supported creating a separate groundwater aquifers map. They also listed housing policy wording, heritage roads and map information among matters requiring further discussion or clarification from staff.[1]
The committee added a Development Approval Information Bylaw to its project list. It also asked staff to bring public correspondence back to the next meeting agenda and provide updates on discussions.[1]
