Hornby trustees seek study of short-term rental business licensing
The Hornby Local Trust Committee asked staff to support Comox Valley Regional District funding for a feasibility study and also discussed childcare at committee meetings.

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee asked staff to send a letter supporting Comox Valley Regional District funding for a feasibility study on business licensing for short-term vacation rentals on Hornby Island. The motion carried, with the letter requested by February 6 if possible. [1]
Regional Director Daniel Arbour said the regional district had an opportunity to examine business licensing after new provincial rules granted local governments additional powers. He said a feasibility budget could support collaboration between the regional district and the trust committee. [2]
The committee also asked staff to explore funding for childcare during Local Trust Committee meetings and report back at the next possible opportunity. That motion carried. [1]
