Hornby trustees seek protection for newly mapped eelgrass beds

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee asked staff to provide eelgrass mapping information to BC Parks and the Hornby Island Provincial Parks Committee, with a request that it be considered in managing the marine component of Tribune Bay Marine Park and protecting recently identified eelgrass beds.[1]
Trustees expressed concern about the extent of eelgrass shown within Tribune Bay Provincial Park and the boat moorage there.[1]
The committee received the final report on the nearshore eelgrass inventory for 2012–2013 and Map 6, showing eelgrass presence in the Hornby Island Local Trust Area.[1]
