Hornby trustees recommend Sea Breeze licence endorsement
The recommendation includes a midnight end to entertainment and liquor service, with a possible earlier closing time on most days.

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee recommended that a food-primary entertainment endorsement for Sea Breeze Lodge be issued, with events ending at midnight rather than 1:00 am and a possible neighbour meeting to identify further noise-reduction measures. [1]
The committee reconsidered its earlier motion after receiving additional information, including 39 public comments: 33 supportive and six unsupportive, citing noise and negative impacts. [1]
The recommendation said a number of neighbourhood residents had expressed concerns about late-night noise, while events at Sea Breeze provided employment, goods and services, accommodation and customers for local businesses. [1]
The committee also endorsed a consultation work plan for a TELUS antenna tower proposal, subject to a pre-meeting with TELUS representatives, a public community meeting, notices in the Grapevine and Hornby Tribune, and information addressing the tower’s purposes and potential future uses. [1]
The committee gave first reading to Bylaw No. 154, an amendment concerning the Island Secure Land Association community housing project, and requested an open house meeting about the bylaw. [1]
The committee adopted a standing resolution holding related enforcement actions against three identified properties in abeyance while it intended to facilitate a community process to review residential density; the policy was set to expire on October 31, 2018, or when the review was complete, whichever was sooner. The next regular meeting was scheduled for March 31, 2017, at 11:30 am at Room to Grow, The Hornby Island Resource Centre. [1]

HO-2017-003 It was MOVED and SECONDED, that the Hornby Island Local Trust Committee request staff to inform the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch that it has considered application HO-LCB 2016 (Sea Breeze Lodge) for a “food-primary entertainment endorsement” to allow patron participation and recommends that the endorsement be issued; and provides the following comments: 1. A number of neighbourhood residents have expressed concerns about late night noise. This will be significantly addressed by events ending at midnight rather than 1:00 am. They could be further addressed by Sea Breeze hosting a meeting with neighbours to identify measures to further reduce noise impact. 2. Community impacts include the considerable positive benefits resulting from events hosted at Sea Breeze including employment, provision of goods and services and accommodation, and participants patronizing local businesses.
