The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee presented proposed changes to the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw, including options for secondary suites on larger lots and detached units for temporary housing through a Temporary Use Permit. [1]
The presentation also covered a policy allowing, where permitted, rural residential lots with two dwellings to be subdivided into two lots with a dwelling on each lot. [1]
Other proposed changes included criteria for limited expansion of commercial zoning, new policies for community-based businesses, organized home-occupation regulations and new provisions in the A1 Agriculture Zone. [1]
Planner Rob Milne said Temporary Use Permits are effective for three years and may be renewed for another three years, after which a new application would be required. The minutes say the fees are approximately $400. [1]
The meeting also addressed riparian protection. The minutes say the related bylaws were awaiting final reading, and that development within the 30 metre Development Permit area assessed as subject to the Riparian Areas Regulation would be regulated once the bylaws were adopted. [1]
The meeting was held May 24, 2016, at the Hornby Island Community Hall, with Local Trustees Alex Allen and Tony Law and Chair Laura Busheikin present. [1]
