Hornby trustees defer lot-area bylaw decision to July
Staff will report at the July 16, 2021 meeting on a proposal involving smaller residential lots before the Hornby Local Trust Committee considers second reading of the bylaws.

Staff will report at the July 16, 2021 meeting on a letter proposing changes to the minimum average lot-area amendments and their relationship to Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 166. [1]
The proposal was raised after the committee received correspondence too late for the May 21 agenda, and the committee carried a motion asking staff to report on it. [1]
Regional Planning Manager Heather Kauer said the proposal would involve substantial changes to the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw because it would allow residential lots smaller than one hectare. [1]
Planner Teresa Mahikwa said consideration of second reading had been moved to the July meeting because First Nations still had time to respond to the referrals. [1]
The minutes say the committee received no agency responses by the May 19 deadline, while three First Nations had responded with “no comment” and the other 10 had until June 25, 2021 to respond. [1]
The committee also received an information report on the Hornby Drinking Water and Watershed Protection Project, including on-island testing for coliforms and e-coli and testing of ditches and streams. [1]
