Hornby trustees approve OCP review project with two workshops

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee approved an Official Community Plan amendments review project charter on June 10, 2022, after requesting that staff add two consultant-led workshops, including one in person in September.[1]
The committee also added a review of development that may affect steep-slope and sensitive Gary Oak ecosystems between Central and Euston roads, and a review of the aquifer classification system, to its projects list.[1]
Trustees requested a business case for a second phase of the project charter.[1]
Regional Planning Manager Heather Kauer said the project’s $15,000 budget assumed a consultant would draft the bylaw and take it through first and second reading and a public hearing, but did not assume a community information meeting.[1]
