Hornby trustees advance riparian bylaws for agency review
The Local Trust Committee approved draft changes and directed staff to refer the bylaws to agencies, including the Agricultural Land Commission and First Nations.

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee approved draft changes to its Land Use Bylaw concerning Riparian Areas Regulation requirements, including an exemption for culvert installation and driveway access from a highway. [1]
The committee also gave the draft bylaws first reading and directed staff to formally refer them to relevant agencies, including the Agricultural Land Commission and First Nations. [1]
Planner Rob Milne said the bylaws could move forward while allowing for a future process to amend mapping as changes occur over time. [1]
During the meeting, trustees discussed roadside ditches and were told that ditches assessed as applicable under the regulation were beyond the Local Trust Committee’s authority to exempt. [1]
