Hornby trustees advance housing and short-term rental review
The committee approved a project charter request after hearing the Advisory Planning Commission’s recommendations and public comments.

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee requested staff to develop a project charter with a detailed work plan based on Advisory Planning Commission recommendations about housing and short-term rentals. [1]
The committee discussed a budget of $15,000 for turning the recommendations into formal bylaws, including public engagement, referrals to First Nations and public hearings. [1]
Advisory Planning Commission Chair Wendy Burton said the commission had sought community input and that its recommendations were the beginning of a community consultation process. [2]
Trustees said public consultation would take place before any bylaws were advanced. [2]
The committee also gave three readings to Fees Bylaw No. 169 and forwarded it to the Islands Trust Executive Committee for approval. [1]
