Hornby trustees advance draft land-use bylaws
The committee gave first readings to proposed Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw changes and directed staff to arrange public meetings.

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee gave first reading to draft Land Use Bylaw No. 150, as amended to include recommendations from the Advisory Planning Commission, and referred it to agencies and First Nations. The committee also gave first reading to draft Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 149 and referred it to outstanding agencies and First Nations.[1]
Staff were directed to hold a Community Information Meeting on the proposed bylaws on May 27 or 28, 2014, and to set up two informal community meetings beforehand.[1]
The committee discussed a communications plan that included a flyer with space for comments, information on the website and a frequently asked questions sheet based on issues raised at the informal meetings.[1]
At the town hall, members of the public asked about seeking a change from the R4 zone to the R2 zone in the draft bylaw. Trustees suggested submitting the request in writing for consideration during the community feedback phase and said the committee would consider whether it was within the scope of the targeted review.[1]
