Hornby trustees advance bylaw enforcement review
The Local Trust Committee confirmed a fall community information session and referral of the bylaw to its Advisory Planning Commission.

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee confirmed plans for a community information session in fall 2019 and said it intended to refer Bylaw No. 159, the Bylaw Enforcement Notification Bylaw, to the Advisory Planning Commission for consideration. [1]
At the meeting, public comments included support for proactive enforcement of Vacation Home Rental regulations, prioritizing infractions and continuing a complaint-driven enforcement policy. [1]
Other comments called for protecting non-conforming year-around housing, exempting existing housing from the bylaw system and seeking input from residents who might be off-island during public consultation. [1]
The committee also approved a development permit and variance permit for Ford’s Cove Marina, requested staff proceed with a rezoning application, and approved a development permit connected to a proposed two-lot subdivision. [1]
The next regular meeting was scheduled for November 8, 2019, at New Horizons. [1]
