Hornby trustees advance bylaw amendments and riparian review
The Local Trust Committee gave first readings to two amendment bylaws and added a review of Riparian Areas Development Permit Area 6 to its top-priority work.

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee gave first readings to proposed amendments to the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw, covering minor typographical errors, outdated language, and legislation and regulatory citations. The bylaws will be referred to School District #71 and the Comox Valley Regional District. [1]
The committee also added “Review of the Riparian Areas Development Permit Area 6” to Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw Amendments Top Priority No. 1. The review is to determine whether natural boundary delineation and required setbacks meet current provincial guidelines, revise the project charter, and return to the next Local Trust Committee meeting. The minutes say trustees acknowledged varying methodologies used by two Qualified Environmental Professionals contracted for Riparian Areas Regulation work and the uncertainty this created. [1]
The committee requested that staff contact the Comox Valley Regional District for more information about a Housing Service Feasibility Study, including tax implications and potential services. [1]
The committee also requested that staff explore the feasibility of sharing a public office space on Hornby Island for trustees and planners, and communicated its interest to Trust Council in filming and streaming public meetings. [1]
