Hornby trustees add small-scale farming project to work list
The committee voted to develop a project supporting small-scale farming, with consultation involving relevant agencies and a review of policies and regulations.

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee added a project to its work list to support accessible opportunities for small-scale farming, involving consultation with relevant agencies and a review of applicable policies and regulations.[1]
The committee also voted to continue supporting changes addressing Section 946 of the Local Government Act in the draft land use bylaw. During discussion, a community member raised concerns about the proposed minimum lot size for subdivision under that section; Trustee Law said a focused review of ways to encourage small-scale farming could be a more appropriate process for addressing the issue.[1]
The committee supported changing the Euston Road neighbourhood properties designated Forest in proposed Bylaw No. 149 to Rural Residential, and changing their proposed Bylaw No. 150 zoning from R4 to R2.[1]
The committee also added a consultative process for the Ford Cove area to its Projects List.[1]
