Hornby trustees add heritage protection to projects list

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee added “Heritage Protection for Ford Cove Orchard and Leaf House” to its Projects List and requested a staff report on issues and next steps for pursuing heritage protection at the Ford Cove Orchard portion of Mount Geoffrey Escarpment Park. [1]
Planner Rob Milne outlined issues and possible stakeholders involved in implementing heritage designation, while trustees discussed the process and a joint management plan being created for Mount Geoffrey Escarpment Park. [1]
Trustee Tony Law offered to arrange for a contact at BC Parks to provide background information for discussions with agencies involved in the process. [1]
The committee also designated Trustee Tony Law to engage with community organizations and other entities about marine protection options and report back to the committee. [1]
The next regular meeting was scheduled for June 10, 2016, at Room to Grow, the Hornby Island Resource Centre. [1]
