Hornby OCP draft proposes rental suites and temporary detached units
At a community information meeting, the planner outlined proposed housing changes and said community comments would be consolidated into the draft before referral to the Advisory Planning Commission.[^1]

The draft Hornby Official Community Plan would allow secondary suites on larger lots as rental housing and detached units for non-permanent affordable rentals through Temporary Use Permits, according to the planner’s presentation at the Oct. 27 community information meeting.[1]
The planner said the next steps included reviewing and consolidating community comments into the draft OCP and referring it to the Advisory Planning Commission.[1]
In discussion, Trustee Law said he considered Temporary Use Permits the best balance between accountability and accessibility among the options available.[1]
The draft also proposed allowing a rural residential lot with two dwellings to be subdivided into two lots, each with a dwelling, while retaining the existing dwelling density, the planner said.[1]
The meeting was held to solicit comments and answer questions about proposed OCP changes; the planner said revisions to the Land Use Bylaw would be presented at a future meeting.[1]
