Hornby committee defers bylaw readings pending land analysis

The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee voted to defer consideration of amendments or further readings of proposed bylaws 176 and 177 until the Suitable Land Analysis project is completed in March 2025 and the committee has considered its data and recommendations.[1]
The committee also voted to request a special electronic meeting in February 2025 to review preliminary data and mapping from the project, discuss possible implications for the proposed bylaws and consider applications ready for discussion.[1]
The committee authorized up to $150 from the Major Project budget for local advertising to promote the February meeting.[1] It also requested that staff invite members of the Advisory Planning Commission and K’omoks First Nation Council members to attend.[1]
The committee voted to continue the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw Review Project as a minor project beginning April 1, 2025, and requested that the Director of Planning Services allocate $5,000 from the 2025-2026 fiscal budget.[1]
