Islands Trust approves five Denman bylaws

The Executive Committee approved three Denman bylaws for housing and conservation projects and two amendments to the island’s official community plan and land-use bylaw.

The Denman Firestarter · Governance · 2026-02-25 · updated 2026-10-18 · Trust-wide: every island edition carries this report.

The approvals allow the Denman Island Local Trust Committee’s Bylaws 250, 254 and 255 to proceed under Section 27 of the Islands Trust Act; the Executive Committee carried motions approving all three at its Feb. 25 meeting.[1]

The committee also approved Denman Bylaws 256 and 257, amendments to the island’s official community plan and land-use bylaw.[1]

During discussion of the Denman referrals, trustees raised questions about the format of the First Nations referral logs and consistency between offices; staff said they were working to improve the process, including the tracking sheet.[1]

The meeting minutes record that the committee approved bylaws from Galiano, Mayne, Saturna and South Pender as well as Denman.[1]
