The Hornby Island Local Trust Committee deferred a decision on Development Variance Permit HO-DVP-2012.2 until its September meeting, after discussing a requested height variance for the Hornby Island Resort project.[1]
Trustee Tony Law supported the Advisory Planning Commission’s recommendation to limit the maximum height to 7 metres, the allowable limit within 100 metres of the ocean, according to the minutes.[1]
The applicant, John Ross, said the buildings could be lowered without changing the project footprint, but revising the plans and application would involve significant cost.[1]
The committee also adopted Bylaw No. 145, an amendment to the Hornby Island Land Use Bylaw, and moved the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw review to its top priority.[1]
